Removing oxidation from brass components

Ways to remove oxidation from your brass components:

Lemon & Baking Soda Method

  • Combine the juice of half a lemon and a teaspoon of baking soda and stir until it becomes a paste
  • Apply paste with a soft cloth to brass components
  • If heavily tarnished, let the piece sit with the paste on it for 30 minutes
  • Rinse with warm water and pat dry
  • Repeat if necessary.

Tomato Sauce Method

  • Squeeze some tomato sauce (ketchup) into a dish.
  • Carefully cover the brass area or only the required areas with a decent amount of tomato sauce.
  • Let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  • Use clean water or a soft damp towel to gently remove the tomato sauce from the brass component.
